- Males only
- Ages 18 +
- IQ 70 or higher, under 70 considered on an individual basis
- Commit to making a change in your life
- Give your best effort to remain drug and alcohol-free
- Make smart choices to prepare you for a successful reentry into society
Admission Process
Step One – Complete an Application
- Download the application packet
- Use the link to download Second Chance Application
- Read the application carefully! Fill in, initial, and sign in the appropriate areas
- Your initials or signature validates your understanding of the application and its respective sections
- Submit the completed application to secondchance731@gmail.com
- Incomplete applications will not be considered for review
Step Two – Review of Application
- The Board of Directors reviews the application and recommends it to the President.
- The President reviews applications and recommendations and makes a final decision.
- If approved, a provisional letter of acceptance will be sent to you or your case manager, IPO, release coordinator, or supervision officer.
Step Three – Secure Funding
- The Transition Living Program fees cover 60 days of the following:
- Room & Board
- Utilities (Lights/Water)
- Cable TV
- Phone
- Access to On-Site Washer and Dryer
- Program Materials (Books, Paper, Folders, etc.)
- The 60-Day Transitional Living Program at Second Chance “New Beginnings” Halfway House costs a total of $1900. If more than two months of housing are needed, the resident can continue to stay and pay housing fees.
- $300 Nonrefundable Deposit
- $800 First Month Program Fees
- $800 Second Month Program Fees
- Total program cost must be paid before arrival at the facility.
- Secures bed space once the full amount is paid
- As an approved TDOC halfway house, we are qualified to accept Reentry Housing Program (RHP) funds through a grant provided by the Tennessee Department of Corrections and Tennessee Housing Development Agency. To be approved, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of the state of Tennessee and deemed indigent:
- Be on supervision under the Board of Probation and Parole for a felony conviction -OR- on Community Supervision for Life:
- Agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the RHP program.
- Those approved for RHP funding will be placed on our approved waiting list. Bed placement will be determined by expiration or release date and bed availability. Specialized populations will be given priority.
- Deferring, waiving, or any alteration to the fees must be approved by the President.
- Good cause must be shown for consideration of changes to the fee schedule.
Step Four – Submit Documentation
- Submit additional documentation for your program records. This includes:
- Medical and Mental Health Summary (including prescription lists, food/drug allergies)
- TB Screening (within the last 12 months)
- COVID-19 Test (within the last 30 days)
- COVID-19 Vaccination Records (if applicable)
Step Five – Approval
- Placement on the approved waiting list
- Residents who pay the transitional program fees from their own funds are secured a bed for their arrival date
- Residents who receive RHP funds will be placed on a waiting list and prioritized based on release date.
